“Christmas Songs” by Jen and Rachael

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! And Jen and Rachael have been taking total advantage of it by playing slash singing Christmas songs all the time. They make quite a good team, despite the fact that once again, they find their likes at opposite ends of the spectrum.

Jen loves to play songs like “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree,” “Feliz Navidad,” “The Chipmunks Christmas Song,” and any other upbeat Christmas song featuring crazy words or an alternative view of Christmas spirit. Whereas Rachael prefers to listen to the Christmas classics, “The Christmas Song,” “O Holy Night,” “I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas,” and any other mellow Christmas carol that might have been sung by a member of the rat pack at some point. It makes for an interesting evening of singing. Even iTunes couldn’t  produce a more random shuffle.

But, Jen and Rachael have recently moved into a new plateau of Christmas music appreciation. They have found Christmas songs that they both enjoy! Some of these would be “12 Days of Christmas” especially when sung by the Muppets or Relient K, “Walking in a Winter Wonderland” because they can take turns singing the parts. Rachael knows the verses while Jen rocks out the chorus, and their personal all-time favorite Christmas song “Last Christmas” by Wham! In actuality, neither of them like the song at all, but the music video was so horrible that as they watched it, they discovered that there really are horrible Christmas songs out there just waiting to terrorize unsuspecting listeners. And from that moment on, Jen and Rachael were able to appreciate their Christmas music differences, knowing that at least neither of them loved “Last Christmas” by Wham!.

But Rachael still despises the Chipmunk Christmas song, and always will, no matter how many horrible Christmas songs Wham! produces.
